Hartwell Lake, Georgia

Hartwell Lake is a manmade lake, completed in the early 1960's.  It took over a year, after the dam was built, for the lands to flood and fill. It boasts a thousand mile shoreline, spreads over the state line between Georgia and South Carolina.  It is fed by two rivers. Back in the mid 1980's I used to sail on this lake on various borrowed sailboats. It has islands scattered throughout the lake.  I used to anchor, then wade or swim ashore to many of the little islands, dreaming about living on an island.  In 1987, I did relocate to the Caribbean, living aboard many different yachts while crewing professionally, visiting numerous islands. If you plan to be in the area, by all means, drop by and see me!  I am going to be camping here for an indefinite period. Probably months, with a few side excursions.
