Half Dead

The palmetto prairie, where I am workamping, is just stunning. This bucolic scene is behind my camper.

Nothing like having the first person of the day to see me say "Are you OK?  You look terrible!"

Gee whiz...

I'll admit I felt lousy, but I was doing my 16 hour shift.  It was 56F degrees when I woke up at 3am. I couldn't seem to get warm all morning, so I just assumed it was still cold. Another workamper passed by later in the day while I was rubbing my legs and arms trying to stay warm, all bundled up in my layers of clothes.

He looked at me and said "You look really pale. By the way, it's 76F degrees! You're dressed for a blizzard."

By 2pm, I had only worked 9 of my 16 hour shift but I couldn't do much more. My tummy was now kicking up a major fuss,  I was still very cold and  felt terribly weak, so I hung up the self-service sign, then closed up.

Back at my motorhome, I fell into bed hiding under the covers trying to warm up.  Before I drifted off, it occurred to me that maybe my company yesterday brought me a bug. She is a great friend, who lives about 50 miles away. She had just been to several different doctors the past 2 days, then came to see me. Maybe some bug hitchhiked with her and got me. Oh yuck.

I found out later, that the volunteer coordinator came by to see how we were doing after the place was closed up.I so hate making a bad impression!  If I had only stayed open...

The other workampers told me later that  they told her I was half dead and closed up early.  Oh my.

Well, I am going to back to bed now to meditate on looking un-dead.

  2. Oh feel better soon. I hope you are resting in that comfy bed of yours! 16 hour shifts are just too long...

  3. Hope you feel better soon. It is impossible to do any work when you feel that bad!
