My New Pet

A huge new pet has adopted me. I think she loves to eat the little purple flowers that are growing in the grass around my campsite. 

Feeding time.


A satisfied smile.

Nap time.

Crawling.

Walking.

Oh the joys of being adopted by a new pet!

    It looks so cute! Is it a snapper though? If so, don't let Harley get around it. I had a dog years ago who got a piece of her ear bit off by one.

    no. not a snapper, but it can still bite. mostly they just mosey around. not good to eat. well i guess that depends on your level of hunger.

    i can't quite see florida from here, unlike the wasilla messiah. but it appears to be a striped mud turtle. but what do i know.

    Harley has tried to engage the turtle in leap frog play, but turtle isn't interested. She just sits there and lets him jump over her. He doesn't mess with her otherwise, thinks she is a boring playmate, so he engages humans with dancing and ball toss and fetch plus Frisbee and toss around the pacifier... possibly is favorite toy because he can play with it by himself, tossing it to bounce at weird angles.

    It seems to me that there were always turtles around when I was a kid. I don't know when I last saw one though.
